The best method to melt chocolate 

There are many ways to melt your Yorkie® bars, but the easiest is to use your trusty microwave! Simply chop the bars into small, even pieces and pop them into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in 20-30 second bursts and mix in between with a silicone spatula until melted and smooth. For the stovetop method of melting chocolate, check out our Smarties® Chocolate Brownies recipe.

Pop your marshmallow top hats into an airtight container and keep them at room temperature for best results.

  • Piping bag (optional)

  • 3 x Yorkie® Original (46g each)
  • 12 marshmallows
  • 12 Smarties®

Method

  1. Chop the Yorkie® bars into even pieces and pop them into a microwave-safe bowl. Blitz the chocolate in the microwave in 20-30 second bursts and mix in between with a spoon or silicone spatula. If you are using a piping bag, scoop the melted chocolate into the bag.
  2. Lay the mini cupcake cases out on a small tray. Pipe or spoon the chocolate evenly into the cupcake cases but reserve a small amount to stick the Smarties® on.
  3. Lightly press the marshmallows into the chocolate to stick and secure.
  4. Top each marshmallow with a small blob of chocolate, then stick on the Smarties®
  5. Leave at room temperature until the chocolate sets or pop into the fridge for an hour.
  6. To serve, peel off the cupcake cases and enjoy! 
     

Top Tips

For the perfect top-hat look, press the marshmallow down with just enough pressure until the chocolate comes up the sides of the cupcake case.
