Fun Easter games to play this spring

Let’s hip, let’s hop and let’s get ready to Easter craft rock!

 1. Easter egg dyeing

For a fun Easter craft idea, why not dive into the colourful world of Easter egg colouring? With just a few pantry staples like onions, red cabbage, turmeric and vinegar, you can help your kids to create a custom collection of Easter eggs. Head outside with the kids and pick a few flowers and leaves to use as stencils or break out their sticker collection and let them go wild! Once you have coloured your eggs, why not embellish with some painted-on patterns?

 2. Make a friendship bracelet

For a quick and easy Easter activity for kids, set up a friendship bracelet-making station. Use pastel-coloured threads, beads, letter blocks, as well as bunnies, flowers, or any spring-themed charms to complete the look. This hands-on craft encourages creativity, improves spelling, sharpens fine motor skills and helps everyone get into the festive Easter spirit. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to celebrate with a personal touch!

Tip

Some materials may be small or fiddly, so it’s best to supervise younger children closely to keep things safe and fun for everyone.

3. Easter egg potato printing

Put those busy fingers to work and create Easter cards for the whole family with this easy potato printing idea. Simply cut a potato in half, then use a small, sharp knife to cut some patterns into the flat face of the potato. Stripes, zigzags and wavy lines work well. Circles or stars can be more challenging but worth the effort. From there, add paint to the pattern you created, then use the potato as a stamp. Create Easter cards or a poster to announce the annual Easter hunt details!

Since this activity involves using a sharp knife, make sure an adult handles the cutting. Kids can take over the painting and stamping part – messy fun guaranteed!

4. Easter egg hunt

The Easter egg hunt is a tradition that dates back hundreds of years, and it’s more popular now than ever before. Kids love the build-up, and if they manage to sleep past sunrise, consider yourself in luck! There’s an art to planning a great hunt but lucky for you, we’ve got you covered. From indoor to outdoor planning to all the best places to hide your eggs, our How to Plan an Easter Egg Hunt Guide has it all.

5. Decorate a flowerpot

Get into the spring spirit and paint flowerpots for Easter gifts. All you need is a few small flowerpots, acrylic paints, a selection of paintbrushes and some eager kids. Paint a base layer of colour on the pots then let the kids tap into their inner artist. Give them some spring theme guidance like flowers, rabbits, a friendly sun with a face and, of course, colourful Easter eggs. The brighter the better. You could even host a mock Easter auction for friends and family celebrating with you!

6. Make a bird feeder

Our Smarties® Bird Feeder is just the project you need to keep the kids busy this Easter. With a few basic supplies, like peanut butter, bird seeds, an empty Smarties® tube and a little guidance, it's as easy as one, two, three, hang it on a tree! Find the perfect branch on Easter morning during the egg hunt, and you’ll soon see the birds flock to you for a feast.

7. Chocolate bar cards

Bring a touch of old-school charm to your Easter with these easy chocolate bar cards. Simply grab your favourite Nestlé chocolate like our Milkybar® Mini Eggs Bar or our Aero® Hazelnut Sharing Bar, wrap it in brown paper and tie it closed with twine or string. Collect a few stamps and Easter stickers and decorate your festive parcel. Don’t forget to write a sweet message, and you get extra festive points if it’s a poem about spring, or the joy of the season!

8. Smarties® chocolate cornflake nests

For a handmade Easter idea that’s delicious and looks good on display, try our Smarties® Chocolate Cornflake Nests. These delightfully cute creations combine smooth melted milk chocolate and crunchy cornflakes to create a nest in a muffin tray. Every nest is topped with three Smarties® Mini Eggs and chilled to set. Use them to create a charming table display for your Easter family lunch and serve them for dessert.

9. Make an Easter sweet cone

A sweet cone is easy to make. Grab a few Easter treats like our Smarties® or Milkybar® Mini Eggs, add some Jelly Tots® from Rowntree's®, and you’re well on your way to creating festive Easter sweet cones. For a full how-to guide complete with decorating ideas, head over to our How to Make Sweet Cones article.

10. Handprint bunny egg holders

For a quick and easy Easter craft idea, grab the kids and get them to make some handprint bunny egg holders. All you need is some coloured card (pastel colours work well), glue, scissors, pencil crayons or felt-tip pens and some chocolate eggs like our Milkybar® or Smarties® Small Eggs. Have the kids trace their hands onto the card, then cut out the shapes. Snip off the middle fingers, then fold the thumb and pinkie fingers down to make arms. And just like that, you’ve created the shape of your bunny! All that’s left to do is draw on a face, then use a little glue to stick the arms to the chocolate egg.

11. Bake an Easter bunny cake

Easter cakes are a treat, and this one is as easy as they come! The single-layer rectangle shape means no finicky layers, and the icing top is simple and straightforward. The cake is topped with piped bunny faces, which will give you and the kids a chance to let your artistic sides shine! Head over to our Easter Bunny Cake recipe to plan your bake day.

12. Cupcake liner daffodils

Add some spring fun to your Easter decor with these colourful cupcake liner flowers. You’ll need some lollipop sticks, green craft paint, coloured card, colourful cupcake liners and glue. To build your flowers, paint the lollipop sticks green, then draw and cut out some flower shapes on the coloured card. Scrunch up the cupcake liners to create some texture, then glue them to the centre of the flowers. Glue the flowers to the green lollipop sticks and marvel at your creations!

13. Craft a smarties® Easter bunny

There are many uses for a left-over Smarties® tube, but our Easter Bunny Craft might be the cutest of them all! With just a few craft supplies and some googly eyes, you and the kids can create a whole family of colourful Easter bunnies. Use them as decoration or put on a puppet show with your cheery cast of bouncy characters.
