How to Decorate Your Christmas Pudding Cookies
Want your homemade Christmas biscuits to look like they’re straight out of a Pinterest board? Here’s how to decorate your way to greatness:
- Skip the liquid food colouring. Use edible gel colours instead, the kind that come in squeezy tubes or little pots. They’re way easier and actually stay where you put them.
- Draw on the white chocolate, not the biscuit. The gel shows up more clearly on the white background and it gives you that clean, shiny finish.
- Less is more. A couple of green squiggles for holly leaves, three red dots for berries; boom, Christmas magic.
Storage Instructions
Once your Milkybar® Christmas biscuits have cooled and the chocolate’s set, pop them in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for up to a week, although there’s more than a slight chance they might not last that long if you have a large household!
Want to give them as gifts? Stack a few in a little paper bag or box, tie with a ribbon, and you’ve got yourself a pretty, delicious DIY gift. Or, if you’re planning a selection box, you could whip up a batch of our Christmas shortbread snowmen, pumpkin spiced flapjacks or cookies and cream fudge! Simply wrap them in separate batches and place inside a pretty gift bag or box.

Recipe
For the Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or gas mark 4. Line 2 x baking trays with baking paper.
- Cream the butter, Carnation® condensed milk, vanilla and sugar together in a big bowl until they’re smooth and fluffy.
- Sift in the flour, bit by bit. Mix until it forms a dough.
- Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough onto a floured surface.
- Cut into round shapes and transfer them to the lined baking trays. Try to space them out a bit – they do spread a little in the oven.
- Bake for around 10 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden. Don’t wait until they’re brown – they’ll keep cooking a little once they’re out of the oven. The biscuits will harden as they cool.
To Decorate
- Melt the Milkybar® sharing bars in the microwave and make sure you stop and stir occasionally. Alternatively, you can melt it in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.
- Pour the melted Milkybar® into a piping bag and draw the icing on the biscuits.
- Have fun drawing your designs with the edible gel holly leaves, berries, or whatever you decide is on theme. Let your and the kids’ imaginations run free!
Top Tips
