Classic Easter Games

Keep it fun and traditional with our full line up of Easter games!

1. Traditional egg hunt

Kicking off our great big list of Easter activities for kids, it’s the classic you know and love, the Easter egg hunt! Go indoors or outdoors and hide eggs around the house or garden. Give the kids a basket each and let the hunt begin. Read our full guide on How to Plan an Easter Egg Hunt.

2. Glow-in-the-dark egg hunt

Give your Easter hunt a glow-up with a simple glow-in-the-dark twist. The kids will be up before sunrise anyway, so why not use the dark for a little mystery and intrigue? Make your own magic by popping small coloured LED lights into plastic eggs, or paint wooden eggs with glow-in-the-dark paint (all available online) and give the kids an Easter to remember.

3. Colour-coded egg hunt by age group

No one wants tears and squabbling on Easter morning so avoid both by colour-coding the egg hunt. Each child has their own colour to find making it easier to track and control. It’s a simple Easter hack but it makes the hunt way less frantic and way more fun, especially when you've got a mix of ages.

4. Treasure map egg hunt

Make the hunt even more exciting with a hand-drawn map complete with clues, monsters and burnt edges. Not only will it give the kids a roadmap to chocolate egg success, but it’ll also make the morning slightly less chaotic!

5. Egg-and-spoon race

For a taste of old-school fun that never fails, grab a few spoons and some wooden eggs! It’s fun, festive and one of the easiest Easter games to pull off at a moment's notice.

6. Sack race with bunny ears

Don a pair of bunny ears and hop into this garden game classic! A grassy patch is recommended, and hessian sacks are available online.

7. Pin the tail on the bunny

For a seasonal spin on the classic party game, print a template or draw your own bunny poster. Cut out a few fluffy tails or use cotton balls with a piece of sticky tack for an authentic feel. It’s dizzy fun for everyone!

8. Easter scavenger hunt list

Hide a selection of Easter items or spring theme toys like bunnies, chicks, paper flowers or chocolate eggs and give the kids a checklist. Let them loose and see how many they can find. Don’t make it too easy but keep basic safety rules in mind!

9. Musical bunnies

Line up some chairs, put on some tunes and let the kids bounce out the Easter energy. Same rules as classic musical chairs apply but only hopping is allowed!

10. Bunny hops relay race

For a simple Easter activity for kids, pair them up then line them up on opposite ends of the park or garden. Have them hop to each other in a relay style race. The first team to finish wins!

11. DIY Easter bonnets

Fun hats are always in and Easter offers plenty of inspiration for making DIY bonnets. For the simplest approach, use straw hats as a base then plunder your local party shop (or online vendor). Think fluffy chicks, pastel-coloured flowers, bunnies, colourful eggs, ribbons, tissue paper and even googly eyes! Use glue or double-sided tape to attach the items and let the kids design their dream Easter bonnet. Stick to pastel colours, with yellow, blue and pink your classic Easter palette.

12. Egg carton chicks or bunnies

With just a few egg cartons, scissors, glue, paints, googly eyes, feathers, coloured markers and coloured card, you can create a cast of festive Easter characters. Simply cut out two egg holders from the carton. Glue the pieces together to form a head then create a chick or bunny face using your arts and craft supplies!

13. Easter egg colouring

Add a touch of natural colour to your Easter display with our easy guide to Easter Egg Colouring. Using pantry staples and a couple of clever tricks, you can create an array of colourful eggs – you can embellish them even more with acrylic paints, if you want! It’s simple, easy and the kids will love it.

14. Handprint bunny art

Turn little hands into crafty bunny art then use them to decorate tables or make strings to hang. They can also be used as Mini Egg holders for your favourite Nestlé treats! All you need is pastel-coloured card, glue, scissors, pencil crayons or felt-tip pens. For a full guide, read our Easter Crafts for Kids article.

15. Pom-pom chick garlands

For a quick and easy Easter win, all you need is an assorted pack of coloured pom poms. Stick on googly eyes, cut out a triangle beak to finish the face and just like that you’ve created pom pom chick garlands!

16. Paper plate bunny masks

Keeping things crafty and easy using items you probably already have! The humble but always fun paper plate bunny mask is a seasonal stalwart. All you need are PVA glue or glue stick, scissors, coloured pens, pipe cleaners for whiskers (fun but optional) and a lollipop stick to create a handle.

17. Salt dough decorations

With just flour, water and salt you can create a sturdy dough that can be rolled and shaped. Use cookie cutters to create Easter shapes like bunnies or eggs and bake to set. Once set and cooled, let the kids paint to decorate. For a basic salt dough recipe, mix 250g plain flour, 125g table salt and 125g water. Mix and knead for 10 minutes then roll and cut. Bake the shapes at 120 °C for 1 ½ hours to set. Once dried, paint with acrylic paints for bright and colourful decorations!

18. Decorating paper Easter cards

Go classic with paper and coloured pens and host an Easter card creation session. Make a card for everyone in your family and spoil them with a custom message. For a special greeting for every occasion, read our Easter Greetings article.

Safety tip: Please remember that salt dough is just for crafting – not for eating!

19. DIY Easter wreath with spring flowers

Turn a boring cardboard ring into a stunning DIY Easter wreath covered in spring flowers. Simply wrap the ring in ribbon and weave a base of bendy twigs around it. Secure the twigs with twine then layer on clean, fresh greenery such as ivy or eucalyptus (available from florist shops). Add pops of colour with seasonal blooms – you could use paper flowers for indoor wreaths, or artificial flowers for outdoors – and secure with floral wire or twine. Finish with a ribbon for hanging.

20. Make-your-own Easter stickers

For a sticky win that’ll keep the kids busy for hours, set up a sticker creation station. Get the kids to draw Easter-themed pictures then cut them out and turn them into stickers with a small piece of self-adhesive paper or double-sided tape. Quick, easy and always fun!
